Aachen (German pronunciation: [ˈʔaːxən] ( listen); French, and, historically, English: Aix-la-Chapelle, Latin: Aquisgranum, Ripuarian: Oche, Dutch: Aken) is a historic spa city in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. It was a favoured residence of Charlemagne, and the place of coronation of the Kings of Germany. First of all, as it is a violation of the law that can be considered serious, do not bring a stun gun. I am not completely sure they are illegal, but most likely even if they are not, tourists will not be allowed to travel with one. Besides, it is not needed! Things to buy, why would you need to know before you are there? Do the things you want and need to do and you will come across more souvenir shops than you can ever visit, all of them loaded with the local specialties. Just buy something in one of the shops, or look for things in normal shops you might like better as souvenir, as it is much more fun to bring home something from a holiday that actually will be used.
