From Wiktionary under the GNU Free Documentation License. Health is the general condition of a person in all aspects. It is also a level of functional and/or metabolic efficiency of an organism, often implicitly human. The CaduceusAt the time of the creation of the World Health Organization (WHO), in 1948, health was defined as being "a state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity". Only a handful of publications have focused specifically on the definition of health and its evolution in the first 6 decades. Some of them highlight its lack of operational value and the problem created by use of the word "complete." Others declare the definition, which has not been modified since 1948, "simply a bad one." [1] In 1986, the WHO, in the Ottawa Charter for Health Promotion, said that health is "a resource for everyday life, not the objective of living. Health is a positive concept emphasizing social and personal resources, as well as physical capacities." Classification systems such as the WHO Family of International Classifications (WHO-FIC), which is composed of the International Classification of Functioning, Disability, and Health (ICF) and the International Classification of Diseases (ICD) also define health. Overall health is achieved through a combination of physical, mental, and social well-being, which, together is commonly referred to as the Health Triangle. From Wikipedia under the

Asked by IaskYouanswer - Mon Jun 2 13:29:10 2008 - - 1 Answers - 2 Comments A. A. Public health looks at everyone from all over. We (I'm an epidemiologist) are concerned with things that may be coming down the pike and hit all of us (like bird flu, etc.). Community health mostly involves doctors, nurses, and other health care professionals that tailor interventions to a particular community's needs, and they generally don't plan out for "the bigger picture", although they do a heck a job in their locales, since they know it better. Answered by RenRen - Thu Jun 5 11:17:07 2008 Do you know the difference between health care and health care coverage? Q. I see a lot of posts on here saying that we have the best health care in the world and the evidence is that people come here from other countries to get care. I agree that we have the best health CARE in the world. What is being discussed is health care coverage, not health care. That is, the way health care is paid for. Do you understand the difference? Asked by unknown - Wed Jul 22 17:27:10 2009 - - 4 Answers - 3 Comments A. Yes. If you have unlimited resources as an American you have the best health care in the world. If you are an ordinary citizen you simply don't. Even the average health care plan generally does not cover the basics like European systems do. All too often Americans find out just how under insured they are when sickness strikes. That's important because when those people are lucky enough to stay healthy they will never see a problem whatsoever just as their fellow countrymen were just fine with their coverage before tradgedy happened. This is the same thing as with the standard of living. Americans have a higher income on average than Americans but more detailed data shows it's the top 1 percent income earners that's responsible for… [cont.] Answered by justgoodfolk - Thu Jul 23 12:28:27 2009 Why does public health care fit the criteria to be considered an issue?
Q. I need 12 examples so a little help would be nice! Thanks so much to whoever helps. I really need it! By the way, by public health care I mean Canadian health care. So like, free health care but higher taxes. Asked by lakers.chick24 - Mon Sep 14 23:39:29 2009 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments A. I'm from California & I'm not sure about your question, but I'll say some stuff I know. Half of my relatives are in Canada & although I'm poor, several of my Canadian Uncles, Cousins, etc., are doing quite well financially. Every one of them LOVE the health care in Canada & look with disgust at the USA. Health care in America is much more expensive & less available because it is a for profit industry. Drugs are extremely overpriced & the insurance companies care about your health as much as they care about the stuff they just expelled into their toilets. They will DENY you coverage on anything. All they need to do is find an excuse to drop you, that is, when you make a claim. They've got the most educated lawyers who do nothing but… [cont.] Answered by pete - Mon Sep 14 23:58:32 2009 From Yahoo Answer Search: "Health" Quotes about Health: Sourced
