Most musicians learn by ear which basically means that they are hopefully good observers and imitators, remembering where that note was and so on!

A. You need to have passion for whatever you decide to do. Don't hurry the process, you are still young and haven't been introduced to all of the possibilities in life. Keep looking. One of these days you know when you find it because you will feel it in your belly and you'll know that is what you want to do. Until then keep taking a broad range of courses, and stay interested in lots of things. Keep studying hard and getting good grades and believe me it will come to you soon. Good luck.

I want to transition out of business banking and move into something in arts/entertainment. What should I do?
Q. I don't want to go back to school, I'm willing to take a pay cut, and I'm ready to relocate to the west coast. I enjoy the creative process, and have great ideas for films, graphic novels and gaming. How do you get into these things without school? What city is best for these goals?

A. A lot depends on where you are now My feeling is if your in a large city you can do some of this on the side right now by checking out production houses and seeing what they might have ( the pay will be low to begin with) or casting offices also check into advancing a production site . Be realalistic about your computer skills ( can you run digital format info for editing) There are a lot of jobs in the industry but there are also a lot of boring jobs in the industry so try to keep a income coming infrom your current job ( or transfer if possible to a larger city) and slowly get your ideas in .

Do you distinguish art from entertainment/decoration or is it all the same to you? How do you distinguish?
Q. if you do and is something political more or less likely to be artistic in your opinion? Why? I definitely distinguish. To me decorations can be just as aesthetically beautiful as art, and art can be very entertaining but the difference is that art affects you deeper it makes you think and/or feel and you are not always sure why. Politics muddy art because they are shallow focusing outward on fixing other people as apposed to art which should be more spiritual and self-reflective not only to the artist but to the person who appreciates it. There is no real correct answer so I'll put this to a vote

A. I think it's all a matter of personal opinion. Personally, I hate anything political. If I love to look at it it's both art and decoration to me. It's something peaceful to me rather than entertainment. I'm obviously just talking about pictures/paintings. Art comes in many forms.
